Our Consulate envoys in New Orleans keep a low profile. We're here to listen & learn about the city's history, and share insights with our comrades in Detroit & Philadelphia. We've hosted nearly 50 visitors, racked up thousands of Spirit Airlines miles to/from Detroit, and made about a million restaurant recommendations (the list is endless). Behind the scenes, we've worked with Urban Innovation Exchange to publish profiles of awesome New Orleanians (see below), and helped bring the Blackness in America dinner series to Detroit, on its way to becoming a national tour.
We love making personal introductions & connections when we can.

Change & The City - Detroit & New Orleans - May 2016
On May 12, 2016, we hosted a cross-city exchange between Detroit & New Orleans at the Zeitgeist Multi-Disciplinary Center on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard in New Orleans. The evening began with a screening of Change & The City, featuring perspectives from Detroit, Philadelphia & New Orleans, followed by a dialogue including guest speakers: Lauren Hood, Live6 Alliance (Detroit); Chad Rochkind, Human Scale Studio (Detroit); Suzanne Mobley, Tulane City Center (NOLA); Jocelyne Ninneman, DETxNOLA (NOLA); Andre Perry, education advocate (NOLA); Rashida Govan, Project Butterfly (NOLA); Westley Bayas III, Magnolia Strategies (NOLA); and Claire Nelson, Urban Consulate (Detroit/NOLA). The conversation continued across the street at Casa Borrega, with neighborhood site visits the next day led by Linda Pompa of OC Haley Merchants Association and Joel Ross of Concordia.
